Developers of cloud-based video distribution platform to showcase Marlin-enabled OTT solution with Harmonic at IBC 2012 Booth 1.B20
IBC – Amsterdam, Netherlands (September 7, 2012) - SyncTV, the leader in delivering television services to the largest set of Internet-connected TVs, mobile devices, and other media-enabled devices, today announced it will showcase a Hybrid Broadcasting TV (HbbTV) 1.5 solution demonstration, in conjunction with Harmonic, at International Broadcasting Convention 2012. SyncTV will showcase a live MPEG-DASH demo and multi-screen solution along with TF1 and MStar at IBC 2012 at the Harmonic booth (1.B20).
"Intertrust & SyncTV's innovative solution is available on a wide array of connected devices, and fully compatible with the TNT2.0 specifications, which will be the profile implemented in almost all connected TVs in 2013 for the French market," said Gilles Boccon-Gibod, InterTrust SVP Technology and General Manager for Europe. "MPEG-DASH is an important new standard, so we are happy to participate to this end-to-end demonstration of off-the-shelf products."
The solution uses Marlin DRM with MPEG-DASH adaptive streaming, and feeds off an industry-leading encoder, developed by Harmonic. By combining HbbTV and Marlin DRM, the standards-based over-the-top (OTT) TV solution offers a flexible platform for streaming broadcast content across multiple screens.
"Technologies such as MPEG DASH adaptive bitrate streaming and Marlin DRM have provided the streaming video industry with a strong standards-based foundation that will make it easier to publish video for a variety of formats," said SyncTV CEO, Alexander Garcia-Tobar. "As the industry grows, it is important for innovative solutions such as HbbTV 1.5 to continue to provide streaming platforms efficient ways to distribute protected content."
SyncTV's video distribution platform enables content owners to effectively stream their content to Internet-connected devices. The cloud-based platform provides a flexible solution that includes transcoding, encoding, content management, billing and devices.
